I was recently asked what one should do when they have lost their purity but are now living right. Actions cannot be undone and memories will linger but there is hope and it is not to late to live a holy life!
Nicodemus asked Jesus how can a man enter again into their mothers womb to be born. However Jesus was talking about a spiritual birth John 3:6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit…. You can’t undo what has been done and Spiritual rebirth doesn’t destroy the past. It transforms it. A second chance in a sense that you have no limitations to who you can become! If God can take nothing and make everything he can take your past and make it beautiful! Paul wrote to a church in Greece that had a rough past and said this, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 “9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” This scriptures states those that are not pure cannot inherit the kingdom of God however the Greeks who were given to much sin were sanctified by Gods grace. When one makes the decision to walk away from a sinful lifestyle he/she is made new. All things are made new and old things are passed away! 1 John 1:9 “ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Jeremiah 31:34 “No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” When one has been born again and stepped into a relationship with God they become new. No longer must you be identified with you past but you have taken upon a new identity! So pick up your cross and follow Jesus!
